Who Doesn’t Love a Cutie? McDonald’s Rolls Out New Healthy Addition to Kids’ Meals

Eating at McDonald’s is not something I typically broadcast as it’s not the healthiest food option. McDonald’s is usually seen as the fast option when life it busy or a treat for the kids. Now parents can feel a little better knowing our kids can get fresh fruit. It’s another step in the right direction.

Who doesn’t love a cutie? A cutie orange that is. McDonald’s is now offering fresh cutie oranges in their kids happy meals. McDonald’s and Sun Pacific, a family-owned fruit grower, have partnered to make Cuties available while in season, now through March 2015. Each Happy Meal includes the option of 4-piece Chicken McNuggets, hamburger or cheeseburger and kids fries, choice of side and a beverage. In addition to Cuties, McDonald’s offers Go-GURT Strawberry Yogurt and apple slices as a side.

McDonald’s is our preferred stop when traveling. The kids LOVE the experience of a happy meal that includes a toy and games on the box. Perfect things for a road trip. From a parent standpoint McDonald’s almost always has baby changing stations in both the women’s and men’s restrooms. This is SO important for our family of 5 because one is still in diapers. Making it especially convenient when my husband is with the kids.

Stopping at a McDonald’s that has a play area is an added bonus when traveling or just getting the kids out of the house. This gives the kids a chance to run out some energy. The play area is for kids 3-12 years old. There are tunnels, slides and lots of climbing areas available. It’s impossible to keep our now 16 month old from playing. We found there was a low tunnel that he could climb through and really enjoyed it. I do worry about germs so I was happy to see hand sanitizer wipes available in the play area.

I think it’s great that McDonald’s is continuing to offer healthy food options. Kids love the McDonald’s experience and having healthy food options make Mom and Dad feel less guilty. I hope your cuties get a chance to try the fresh fruit option during this limited time.
