The Hocking Lodging Company in Logan, OH (Hocking Hills, baby!)

Hocking Hills is such an amazing place for getting away from the daily grind. There are so many cabins that families can rent, from really roughing it to a nicer “home away from home” stay. Hiking, canoeing, horseback riding, ziplining…the outdoor fun is endless in Logan. I recently went on a writing retreat with Amanda Page and Amy Turn Sharp. We stayed at The Hidden Lake Lodge, which was right off 664 (if you are familiar with that area), and the place was drool-worthy.

I believe our group of writers were some of the first to stay at The Hocking Lodging Company’s new cabin. It was one of the most gorgeous cabins I’ve been in, and felt pretty fortunate hanging out in the woods at this place. It sleeps up to 18 people, with five bedrooms and three bathrooms. Now, if you haven’t stayed in a place like this before YOU NEED TO! Plan a family reunion or a girls weekend getaway.

Don’t think of this cabin as roughing it.  The cabin is “move-in” ready. All you need to bring is food, drinks, water, coffee (already ground), and your clothes. They have a fully stocked kitchen with all you need for cooking and serving, plenty of towels, bedding items, etc. Oh – bring your own juicer (thanks Amy Turn Sharp for keeping us drinking and eating clean, nutrient dense foods!). If you are addicted to your phone, too bad. The wifi is spotty…and turn that dang thing off, anyhow. Let your hubby or wifey know you made it and to give the kids a kiss…or take them with you so you won’t fret all weekend.

Hiking trails and other fun as I mentioned above are only a short distance away. There is also a hot tub so bring your suit!
