zpizza Party!

Summer was ending, and the smell of textbooks, pencil shavings and glue sticks was in the air. My kiddos wanted to celebrate school starting by having a few of their friends over for a pizza party. Well, I had been contacted by zpizza about their BYO Jr. Chef Pizza Kit and took advantage of the fun idea!

zpizza pizza kits are pre-made at their store and all you have to do it order and pick them up. They are $6.95 per child and then additional costs for party.

What you get:

  • individual boxes with ready to cook dough (thankfully, because I was picturing a LOT of flour EVERYwhere and was a bit concerned)
  • pizza sauce and cheese in each box
  • a box full of toppings such as peppers, mushrooms, olives, pepperoni, and sausage you can sit out so each person can build their pizza as they desire
  • chef’s hats and aprons – Kodak moment! The kids looked so cute in them!
  • pin the pepperoni on the pizza, paper placemat with games, and crayons
  • paper plates and napkins

I am not kidding! It was a party and I had barely anything to prepare! What I liked too was that the ingredients were GMO-free, organic, and all natural. They don’t mess around by offering food that speeds up the journey to your demise.

The kids liked it just as much as I did. Our little friends enjoyed the choice and preparing their own food – and this particular idea cut down dramatically on the mess of making and rolling out the dough (which I don’t mind, but with more than four kids that would have stressed me out!). With all parties, though, there are some kinks…

For example, think about how you are going to store the dough. It has to be in the fridge and taken out 45 minutes before assembling and cooking. We stuck the boxes in our fridge, but I think taking the dough out out of each box would have been a better option in regards to space. Then we could have had the kids line upto get boxes and dough.

Next example, think about how you are going to cook them. The directions suggest cooking each pizza one at a time. That didn’t work for us because we had seven hungry children to feed. We cooked them four and three at a time, which was totally fine. The pizzas took about 20 minutes to cook.

I served fruit and veggies before and during dinner. We also had water and lemonade to drink. After the pizza

party, we moved the kiddos downstairs for Raiders of the Lost Ark, popcorn and cookies. YES! They were still hungry! What the heck.
