KIDS, FAMILIES JAZZ UP THEIR MORNINGS WITH PBJ & JAZZ CONCERT SERIES

PRESENTED BY THE JAZZ ARTS GROUP

STARTING SATURDAY NOVEMBER 14TH

Columbus, OH – Kids, grab your parents and bring them to the PBJ & Jazz concert series presented by the Jazz Arts Group, and sponsored by Bob Evans Farms.  PBJ & Jazz concerts are 1-hour long interactive concerts designed to introduce jazz and American music to young children and their families.  The concerts are presented in the fall/winter in the Lincoln Theatre Ballroom (769 East Long Street) and in the spring/summer at the Topiary Park (480 East Town Street) downtown Columbus.

Due to popular demand, this year’s offerings will continue to include two performance times per concert, beginning at 10:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.

The season kicks off on Saturday, November 14th with the Aaron Scott Quartet featuring vocal sensation Liz Woolley. Other series highlights include an all-star lineup of Columbus Jazz Orchestra musicians performing “Songs of the Season” (December 5, 2015), blues guitar master Sean Carney & the Sean Carney Band (January 9, 2016), the fast-rising group Circle of Friends led by drummer Cedric Easton (February 20, 2016) and the New Orleans funk of the New Basics Brass Band (April 2, 2016).

Featuring some of Columbus’ finest musicians and ensembles, PBJ & Jazz concerts are hosted by former Columbus Music Hall owner and retired music educator Rebecca Ogden and are a great introduction to live music for the youngest audience member.

“It has been so much fun over the years to work with great musicians playing real live jazz for kids and their families,” states Ogden. “Every concert is a treat. I am delighted that PBJ & Jazz has a life after the Columbus Music Hall!”

PBJ & Jazz concerts are $5 per person at the door with a family maximum of $20. Children receive a peanut butter & jelly sandwich, juice and a cookie. The 2015-16 concerts will be held in the ballroom in the Lincoln Theatre complex, 769 E. Long Street, Columbus, OH 43203. All concerts begin promptly at 10:00 and 11:30 a.m.For more information, call 614-294-5200 or e-mail Zach Compston, Director of Education and Community Engagement at zcompston@jazzartsgroup.org
