Creekside Blues and Jazz Festival in Gahanna

Summer means JAZZ! and Gahanna knows how to do it with their Creekside Blues and Jazz Festival. They are celebrating 16 years of music and have made it a family-friendly event offering a paddle boatload of kids activities. Check out the information below for a schedule of activities and music that is sure to entice the entire family this weekend June 21 – 22:

Donatos Family Fun Zone – features free kids’ activities, crafts and games.  While there, stop by Musical Discovery Zone and participate in a fun-for-all-ages interactive workshop with some of the best blues and jazz musicians around!  Musicians from the Columbus Jazz Arts Group and the Columbus Blues Alliance provide enthusiasm and present engaging opportunities for attendees to discover the amazing world of rhythm and melody.

Location: South of Granville Street near the Veteran’s Memorial (Directions and Parking click here)

Hours of Operation: Saturday: noon – 5 p.m. and Sunday: noon -4 p.m.

Saturday, June 21 – 12 to 5 p.m.

  • Crafts by Ohio Origami
  • Crafts by Kya’s Krusade
  • Science experiments presented by COSI
  • Musical Shakers by Piano Lessons in your Home
  • Island Petting Zoo
  • Experiment with musical instruments provided by Music Go Round
  • Soccer demonstrations presented by I-9 sports
  • Challenge your skills with putt-putt golf, dinosaur toss, Match Game, and Striker

  • 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. Interactive Workshop with Jazz4Kids (Lisa Clark, Erik Augis, Kris Keith, Jeff Bass and Jerry Powell)
  • 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm  “Children’s fashion on a dime by ROF Events” Founder Shina Jamison www.rofevents.com Featuring designers ELLA PRICE by Princess Price and Anic Productions by Amber Toles.  Kids Fashion Stylist Lori Williams owner of Gemelos Hair Salon,  Fashion Stylist Guy Dale and Tanisha Frazier of TAG Fashion & Entertainment, Models provided by MTM Model and talent management as well John Casablanca.

Sunday, June 22 – 12 to 4 p.m.

Amusement rides are also available throughout the weekend.  Wristbands or single tickets are available for purchase in the amusement area, south of Granville Street.

Games2 U will have their Giant Hamster Balls in the Donatos Family Fun Zone, an exciting way to experience the thrill of 360 degree fun.  Whether standing up or sitting down, you will have a blast rolling around.  They are big, safe and an experience for both kids and adults.

Paddleboating is available at the Marina and is $5 per ride.
