Mozart’s Bakery and Piano Cafe in Clintonville

One of the things I love about soccer Saturdays, besides a warm car after sitting in the freezing cold and watching my son play, is going out to breakfast. Yesterday, we stopped at Mozart’s Bakery and Piano Cafe in Clintonville located on High Street just south of Morse Road.

I thought this was just a sweet shop, but they have tables where a full menu is served. Breakfast items such as portabello mushroom and egg on focaccia, to DIE FOR Belgium waffles with fruit compote, and a pretty decent kids’ menu topped off our morning. The hot chocolate was made from cocoa powder they use in their pastries with fresh whipped cream on top – rich and decadent. It was very low key, but also very pretty in there. The atmosphere felt upscale, but you could wear jeans and rain boots fresh off the soccer field (which I did).

Both of my children ordered off the children’s menu, and they are 8 and 10. The chicken strips were served with fresh fruit and my son had eggs, bacon and toast. He was not an uber fan of the chocolate milk because it was a bit tart, but I found it delicious because it wasn’t overly sweet.

I was impressed with the friendly and prompt service. You know, good service is hard to find these

Aren't these the cutest cookies, ever?!

days? My job history includes many years in the service industry, from walk-in bakeries to white table cloths waiting on celebrities in NYC, and I know how difficult people can be. BUT, if you chose the job you have, then do it and do it well. Sorry about the side rant, back to Mozart’s.

There was a piano player who added to the relaxed feel. He was well versed in the Disney classics and my kids loved it.

We ended the meal with ice cream made there and a chocolate chip cookie. Their other pastries were beautiful and I bet delicious. So, if you need to bring a dessert to a gathering or celebration, you should  check out their selection.

We will definitely be back – especially since my girl will be doing a piano recital there. I guess we will be “forced” to eat their delectable food again…Take a look at their menu for pricing: menu.
